One of the first things that you will notice about Salt Lake City upon arrival is the amazing mountains that form the back drop to this beautiful city. They are literally at the doorstep of the city.
Within Salt Lake City there is much to see and do. With a high Mormon population, there are many spectacular Mormon temples and churches to visit as well as museums. You will find most of these attractions located within and around the popular Temple Square, the most popular tourist attraction in Salt Lake City, home to the Tabernacle, Salt Lake Temple, and the Family History Library. There are many visitors centers within this complex, so if you would like more information about what is going on in the area head to one of those and the friendly staff there should be able to help you out. Even if you are just out walking around, the architecture and buildings are beautiful to explore.
Another of the most spectacular things that you can experience in Salt Lake City is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir or one of the many symphonies or theater shows that they have in town. Some of the music and theater productions that come out of here are absolutely stunning and well worth a night out to experience. During the winter months, Salt Lake City is a gateway to numerous ski resorts around the area. Home to the Winter Olympics in 2002, the skiing and snowboarding here is world class.
Hostels in Salt Lake City are scattered throughout the downtown region. Most of the downtown attractions are within walking distance as are most of the amenities that you will need during your stay here.
